Fifteen themes, worked across the centres
The theme layer is how projects, grants and publications are organised; the centre layer is how capability and people are organised. A theme typically spans several centres, because the most useful questions in oncology rarely belong to one discipline.
The fifteen research themes
Each theme has its own page: what it works on, and the principal centres that carry it.
AI-Driven Drug Discovery
Generative and predictive AI for therapeutic discovery, repurposing and combination design.
Theme page →3 centresBlood Tumours
Leukaemias, lymphomas and myeloma — molecular characterisation and monitoring.
Theme page →2 centresChromatin Biology & Epigenomics
Epigenetic regulation, chromatin architecture and epigenetic biomarkers.
Theme page →1 centresClinical NLP & Knowledge Graphs
Extracting structured knowledge from clinical text and linking it into oncology knowledge graphs.
Theme page →3 centresComputational Immunology
Immune repertoire, neoantigens, immune evasion and response prediction.
Theme page →2 centresDigital Pathology & Spatial AI
Deep learning on tissue images and spatially-resolved molecular data.
Theme page →3 centresDigital Twins & Disease Forecasting
Patient-specific computational models predicting disease course and therapy response.
Theme page →2 centresIn-Silico Clinical Trials
Virtual cohorts, simulated trial design and feasibility modelling.
Theme page →2 centresLiquid Biopsy & Biomarker Discovery
ctDNA and blood-based markers for detection, monitoring and resistance.
Theme page →2 centresPopulation Genomics
Population-scale cancer genomics and India-specific genomic variation.
Theme page →2 centresRadiomics & Medical Physics
Quantitative imaging features, imaging AI, dosimetry and treatment planning.
Theme page →2 centresSingle-Cell Systems Biology
Single-cell multi-omics and systems-level modelling of tumour ecosystems.
Theme page →3 centresSolid Cancers
Molecular and translational research across solid tumour types.
Theme page →2 centresStructural Oncology
Protein structure, molecular dynamics and structure-based drug design.
Theme page →3 centresTumour Microenvironment Modelling
Computational modelling of the cellular and immune environment around the tumour.
Theme page →Clinical and translational research
Alongside the computational centres, the institution runs the clinical research that connects the science to patients — and gives researchers access to real cases, samples and outcomes.
Clinical Trials Unit
Sponsor-led and investigator-initiated trials, biomarker-matched recruitment and feasibility assessment. Trial matching is included inside the molecular report.
Outcomes & real-world evidence
Real-world evidence from Indian practice barely exists. Outcomes and health-services research runs as a standing programme, built on disciplined data capture from services already running.
Browse the centres
Each of the twelve centres has its own profile: methods, data inputs, outputs, funding route and dependencies.
