Proteomics & Multi-Omics Integration

Connecting genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and other molecular data to investigate complementary biological signals.

A coloured map of gene positions inside cell nuclei.

Stated area of interest Named by KPCIRC as an area of scientific interest. Not a claim of an active funded project.

Each molecular layer offers a partial view. Multi-omic integration asks whether combining genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and other data gives a more coherent picture of tumour biology, and how to handle disagreement between layers.

Questions of interest

  • How should conflicting signals between molecular layers be reported?
  • Which integration methods remain interpretable to clinicians?
  • What sample and data-quality standards does integration require?

Approaches

  • Data harmonisation and provenance tracking
  • Interpretable integration methods
  • Explicit reporting of cross-layer conflicts

Connection to clinical services

Relevant to the longitudinal view described for OnKommon TWIN and to biological-context reading in POAS.

A researcher reviewing data charts beside laboratory equipment.

Limitations

  • Integrated models can appear more certain than their inputs justify.
  • Proteomic and multi-omic tests are not routinely available for every patient.
