Rare and uncommon cancers
Rare disease is where a written guide helps least and an expert panel helps most. Uncommon histologies and cancers of unknown primary go to the Complex & Rare Case Board, with invited sub-specialists and a trial and expanded-access search as part of the workup.
For families
If someone you love has just been diagnosed
- You do not have to decide anything this week. Almost nothing in cancer is decided in a day.
- Collect the paperwork. The biopsy report matters more than any scan.
- Go to appointments in pairs. A frightened person does not hear everything.
- Ask what the whole course costs before it starts, not after.
- Asking for a second opinion is normal medicine, not an insult to anyone.
